Stability, tradition and quality. I believe that is the way the rallies in the country should be presented. Very interesting proofs, brilliant pilots and a ‘something more’ of energy that confers a very peculiar, own characteristic.

The first rally held in the country took place at the end of the 60th century, the Silver Fern rally, which was defeated by Grady Thompson-Rick Rimmer at the wheel of the most interesting Holden Monaro. An explanation is needed here:

The rallies Silver Fern (organized in 1969 and 1970), Heathway (organized from 1971 to 1976) and the South Pacific (organized in 1977 - 1st proof of the country valid for the WRC) are officially considered as the New Zealand rally, appearing on the palmares of the race.

In addition to this ‘magic’ rally, there are other very interesting ones, such as Canterbury (since 1981), the incredible Hella Lights (held from 1980 until 1991), Otago (since 1983), Rotorua (from 1995 to 2006) and Whangarei (since 2006).

Pilots? Many. A lot of quality.

Names?

Rod Millen (John Buffum's great rival in the United States), Possum Bourne (national and international multi-campion), John Woolf (eternal), Neil Allport (Rod Millen's great rival in the New Zealand championship), Blair Robson (one of the pioneers) and more recently the spectacular Hayden Paddon (why isn't in the WRC?) confer the authenticity of the excellent quality of the country's pilots.

It's a beautiful country, beautiful landscapes...

Estabilidade, tradição e qualidade. Acredito que essa seja a forma que deve ser apresentada a situação dos rallies no país. Provas interessantíssimas, pilotos brilhantes e um ‘algo mais’ de energia que confere uma característica muito peculiar, propria.
