A very well-organized country, this is public knowledge, and rallies are no exception. Organization (and balance).

Contrary to popular belief, the classic and unforgettable Geneva Rally was not the first event organized in the country. In fact, that distinction belonged to the St. Moritz Rally, held on August 19, 1929, and won by German George Zettritz driving a Mercedes Benz.

The national championship was established in 1973, and, interestingly, of the first 10 editions, 7 were won by Porsches.

Races. Of course, we must begin with the legendary Geneve Rally (held from 1932 to 1972), a crucial event for the world of rallying. All the great drivers of the era passed through it. Other major events in the country are the Valais (organized since 1960) and Court (organized between 1968 and 1991) rallies, both regular fixtures in the European championships.

Regarding drivers, the names of Olivier Burri and Eric Ferreux, both four-time national champions, are the most notable.

Um país muito bem organizado, isso é público e notório e com os rallies não poderia ser diferente. Organização (e equilibrio).

Ao contrario do que muitos pensam, o clássico e inesquecível Rallye de Geneve não foi a primeira prova organizada no país. Em verdade, essa primazia coube ao Rallye Sankt Moritz, realizado no dia 19 de agosto de 1929 e vencido pelo alemão George Zettritz ao volante de um Mercedes Benz.

O campeonato nacional foi instituido em 1973 e, a nivel de curiosidade, das 10 primeiras edições, 7 foram vencidas por Porsche(s).

Provas. Claro, é necessário iniciar com o mítico Rallye de Geneve (disputado de 1932 a 1972) e de uma importância crucial para o mundo dos rallies. Todos os grandes pilotos da época passaram por lá. Outras provas de grande relevancia no país são os rallies Valais (organizado desde 1960) e Court (organizado entre 1968 e 1991), ‘figurinhas’ fáceis nos campeonatos da Europa.

Em relação a pilotos, os nomes de Olivier Burri e Eric Ferreux, ambos tetra campeões nacionais, são os mais relevantes.

Interesting the trajectory of the sport in the country. Land, above all, of very competitive pilots, some, few, traditional proofs, local builders rebaptizing victorious models without any modification, only the change in denomination, balanced championships, 'flerte' with the WRC... very interesting.

The first event organized in the country (as far as it was possible to ascertain) was the Turkiye rally, organized between May 4 and 5, 1968, whose final result the Rallymemory file does not have. Rallies Yesil Bursa (organized since 1971) and Bosphorus (organized since 1972) are the most traditional proofs in the country.

In 1971 the national championship was established, which, in general, there was an alternation, say, kind of reasonable. Among the names that stand out is undeniable the greater relevance for the 6 times national championship Ali Bacioglu. But there are other names with consistent careers both nationally and internationally. Enre Yerlicci and Ali Sipahi, both three times national champions, are other names that should not be ignored. And others: Volkan Isik, Ercan Kazaz, Serdar Bostanci, Renc Kocibey...

Two comments:

First – The cars used by the local brand - Murati, were nothing more than rebaptized Fiat’s.

Second – Selcuk Karamanoglu, national champion in 1979, ‘reappeared’ on the international stage in the 1990s by playing 5 seasons of the American championship, where he won the PGT class in 1994 (with Mitsubishi Eclipse) and 1996 (With Eagle Talon Tsi). Karamanoglu was an official pilot Eagle in the 1995 seasons, 1996 and 1997, achieving 3 wins (general) in the 1996 season.

Interessante a trajetória da modalidade no país. Terra, sobretudo, de pilotos muito competitivos, algumas, poucas, provas tradicionais, construtores locais a rebatizar modelos vitoriosos sem nenhuma modificação, apenas a mudança na denominação, campeonatos equilibrados, ‘flerte’ com o WRC… muito interessante.

A primeira prova organizada no país (até onde foi possível apurar) foi o rally Turkiye, organizado entre os dias 4 e 5 de maio de 1968, cujo resultado final o arquivo Rallymemory não possui. Os rallies Yesil Bursa (organizado desde 1971) e Bosphorus (organizado desde 1972) são as mais tradicionais provas do país.

Em 1971 foi instituído o campeonato nacional que, de forma geral, houve uma alternancia, digamos, meio que razoavel. Dentre os nomes que se destacam é inegavel a relevancia maior para o 6 vezes campeonato nacional Ali Bacioglu. Mas existem outros nomes com carreiras consistentes tanto no cenário nacional quanto internacional. Enre Yerlicci e Ali Sipahi, ambos 3 vezes campeões nacionais, são outros nomes que não devem ser ignorados. E outros mais: Volkan Isik, Ercan Kazaz, Serdar Bostanci, Renc Kocibey…

Duas observações:

1ª – Os carros utilizados pela marca local -Murati, nada mais eram que Fiat’s rebatizados.

2ª – Selcuk Karamanoglu, campeão nacional em 1979, ‘reapareceu’ no cenário internacional na década de 90 ao disputar 5 temporadas do campeonato norte americano, onde venceu a classe PGT em 1994 (com Mitsubishi Eclipse) e em 1996 (Com Eagle Talon Tsi). Karamanoglu foi piloto oficial Eagle nas temporadas 1995, 1996 e 1997, conseguindo 3 vitorias (geral) na temporada 1996.
